Schlegel acquires Giesse
Synergy between companies for a complete range of accessories.
Schlegel acquires Giesse.
Sealing solutions provider Schlegel International has announced the acquisition of Italian-based hardware specialist Giesse with immediate effect. This gives Schlegel—the International Division of London-quoted company Tyman plc—a high quality, engineered hardware range for the aluminium window and door market in Europe, together with a local presence in new markets around the world.
Schlegel CEO Peter Santo commented:
“We are pleased to be able to bring Giesse into the Group, as the business is an excellent fit with our own. It gives us the start of a hardware offering that can sit alongside our range of sealing products, all aimed at the window and door industry. It also brings another well-known and respected industry brand into the Group.
For Schlegel and Giesse, our major markets are in Europe, but we are both growing new businesses in South America and, whilst Schlegel is strong in Australia and New Zealand, Giesse has a greater presence in China, the Middle East and India, meaning the new combined business will have access and real synergy opportunities in a number of new markets.
Giesse has a long history of innovation that immensely appeals to us and, with the backing of our Group, our aim is to continue and, indeed, accelerate this activity.
I would like to confirm to existing customers of both Schlegel and Giesse that, whilst it will be business as usual, we plan to introduce a number of exciting new opportunities in the future. Seals and hardware are the two most important components in the weathering performance of a window and door, and developing them in combination as part of a one-stop-shop solution is the obvious way forward, especially since building regulations around the world are becoming increasingly stringent.”
The CEO of parent group Tyman plc, Louis Eperjesi, added:
“The acquisition of Giesse represents a strategic opportunity for the Group to add an initial hardware offering to our International Division, as we seek to expand the range of engineered components we can offer our customers in all regions.”
