Sustainable Solutions

In our commitment to sustainability, our products play a crucial role. We aim to develop innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact and promote the responsible use of resources.

Our Sustainable Solutions focus on the way we produce, the way we package and the positive impact our products have on society and the environment.

Sustainability drives our innovation strategy, aiming to create solutions that minimize environmental impact and promote a sustainable future. Our projects focus on responsible resource use, energy efficiency, inclusive economic growth, and climate change, with advanced research supporting eco-friendly materials, reduced carbon emissions, and optimized production processes.

We design products with a positive environmental impact, focusing on energy efficiency, durability, waste reduction, and the use of recycled materials, in line with ESPR (European Sustainable Product Regulation) and eco-design principles. By collaborating with partners, suppliers, and customers, we promote sustainability and develop efficient, eco-friendly solutions, aiming to create lon-term value for future generations.

Sustainable solutions - Eco Design

Eco-design

The new EU Eco-design Regulation, effective July 18, 2024, sets stringent criteria for product design to reduce environmental impact and enhance durability and repairability. This regulation presents challenges and opportunities, pushing companies to innovate and meet sustainability demands as well as global regulatory pressures.

Our products are not among those listed in the regulation as a priority, we are nonetheless adapting by:

  • Adding disassembly and disposal instructions for existing products.
  • Designing new products with disassemblability, repairability, end-of-life disposal/reuse and low-impact materials.

Packaging

Sustainable packaging is designed to reduce environmental impact by minimizing natural resource use, promoting recycling, and utilizing recycled, recyclable materials. Ongoing efforts on single-use plastic reducing include increasing of recycled content and redesigned plastic-free packaging.

Key achievements include:

  • Switching to fully paper packaging for CHIC concealed hinges.
  • Introducing paper tape instead of plastic tape.
  • Reducing cardboard usage in Poly-Bond and Fin-Seal packaging with new box sizes.
  • Introducing plastic bags with over 30% recycled content.

Circular economy

The circular economy emphasizes waste reduction, employing technologies and processes that reduce environmental impact and promote material reuse. The instruction sheets provided with our products include guidelines for end-of-life reuse or recyclability.

Our transition process from a linear to a circular economic model has already achieved initial goals; in terms of using materials with a high recycled or recyclable content:

  • 40% of extruded aluminium with recycled content into our manufacturing annually.
  • Incorporating 30% recycled material in polyamide connecting rods.
  • Our material waste is used to produce new raw material.

Our ongoing commitment to sustainability has led to the creation of a polyamide connecting rod containing 30% recycled material. For this model, part of the virgin raw material has been replaced with pre-consumer recycled material, whose quality is guaranteed by a certified recovery management system.

Giesse invests in research and development with a focus on innovation, quality, and low environmental impact. For its accessories, it uses Magnelis®, a zinc-aluminum-magnesium metallic coating that offers high corrosion resistance, is 100% recyclable, and has a lower environmental impact than stainless steel, using less zinc and reducing its dispersion.
